FRANÇAIS LANGUE SECONDE IMMERSION 12
Indicators of Success: French Immersion 11
Description: In your last French Immersion class, you will learn more about the francophone world with a focus on French Africa.
Research skills and literary analysis are both part of this course. Students will continue to develop their vocabulary and refine their language skills.
There is a final provincial exam which is mandatory for students wishing to graduate with a bilingual certificate. Teh exam has a speaking component as well as reading and writing.
For the 2011 - 2012 school year A French 12 and Leadership 12 will be offered. Students will take FRAL 12 and a choice of AP or Leadership. the AP exam will be written in May and the FRAL 12 exams in June.
AP FRENCH 12
AP French is a College Board advanced placement course. This course gives students internationally recognized university credit and/or placement. There is a College Board exam in May that includes listening, speaking and writing components.
LEADERSHIP 12
This course will allow students to graduate with a bilingual certification without writing the AP French exam.
Leadership students will have an important role in the grade 7 French Immersion camps. They will also work with younger grades for various events; planning and implementing activities to broaden the French Immersion experience in the junior grades. A strong commitment to speaking French in class and during field trips and activities is REQUIRED for Leadership students.
