Graduation Transitions
OVERVIEW
The
Planning and Graduation Transition Department’s role is to assist students in
their preparation for Graduation and life after high school. Health and Career
Education 9, Planning, and Graduation Transitions 12 are Ministry Graduation
requirements.
PLANNING Description: The aim of Planning is to help students develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge that will enable them to plan for their successful transition from secondary school to their adult lives. In 2010/11, the second half of Planning will be taught as a mandatory course for all Grade 11 students.

GRADUATION TRANSITIONs 12 In Grade 12, in order to graduate, students must complete:
¨ 80 hours of physical activity (in addition to PE 10 Course Requirements and DPA);
¨ A graduation transition plan that will help students set goals for post-secondary education or career pursuits:
¨ 30 hours of work experience or community service.
Graduation Transitions 12 allows LVR students to fulfill the requirements of the Graduation Transition plan and presentation (mandatory in School District 8). The delivery method to meet these standards has been approved by the S.D. #8 School Board and is consistent with the other secondary schools in this district.
There may be an option to do Grad Transitions outside the timetable. Students must apply to the administration to be considered for this option, indicating a strong rationale and previous solid independent work habits.
