FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING 12 Prerequisite: None
Accounting is the language of Business. This course is a must for any student planning on owning, managing, or working in a business. This course will provide students with a foundation in financial record keeping, understanding business concepts and producing financial statements. Students will receive accounting skills that will make them employable in the business world. This course is highly recommended for any professional career.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP 12 Prerequisite: None
This is an introductory course for students interested in learning about basic economics, how businesses are run and what it takes to start your own business. Students learn how to take a business idea and go through all the steps necessary to start up. Students will prepare their own business plans that include: idea, objectives, goals, product, price, viability, business types, start-up costs, location, competition, advertising, promotion, risk management, and cash-flow.
TOURISM 11 Prerequisite: None
The tourism industry is the second fastest growing industry in Canada. It represents the largest job producing sector. In this course students will study the eight sectors of tourism that include: Accommodation, Attractions, Transportation, Events and Conferences, Food and Beverage, Tourism Services, Adventure Tourism and Recreation, and Travel Trade. This is a practical hands on course. Students will earn their Superhost Certificate and their Food Safe Certificate. As well they will earn four of the following certificates: Local Tour Guide, Tour Operator, Travel Counsellor, Special Events Coordinator, Heritage Interpreter, Adventure Tourism, Serving It Right, Customers with Disabilities, Japanese Superhost, and Food & Beverage Server.
TOURISM 12 Prerequisite: None. (You do not have to have Tourism 11)
Hospitality and Tourism 12 is a practical hands-on course. Since this industry is people oriented, management and staff must be skilled in communication, listening, stress and time management and negotiating. These skills will be practiced while students complete the following certificate courses: Superhost and Food Safe as well as four of the following: Local Tour Guide, Tour Operator, Travel Counsellor, Special Events Coordinator, Heritage Interpreter, Adventure Tourism, Serving It Right, Customers with Disabilities, Japanese Superhost, and Food and Beverage Server.
